2022 Activity Schedule

Tuesday

Welcome to Pocatello. Choirs arrive in Pocatello and are greeted by their choir coordinators and host families at the magnificent Stephens Performing Arts Center. Choir members spend the evening with their host families.

Wednesday

MORNING—Singing in the Hills Activity. Participants ride buses to the Pebble Creek Ski Area for a morning of activities in Idaho's "purple mountain majesties" including riding the chair lift up the mountain, hiking down to the lodge, and breaking into spontaneous song. Lunch will be served.

AFTERNOON—Rehearsals and Free Time. In the afternoon, some choirs will rehearse for the opening ceremonies and others will have free time, which may include the Idaho Museum of Natural History, the Games Center at the Pond Student Union Building, Zoo Idaho, the Ross Park Aquatic Complex, or walking tours of shops and buildings in Old Town Pocatello.

EVENING—Opening Ceremony. Following a provided dinner, singers will walk to the Jensen Grand Concert Hall in the L.E. and Thelma E. Stephens Performing Arts Center for the opening ceremony. Each choir is introduced, and some will sing. Host families take singers back to their lodgings.

Thursday

MORNING—Choral Workshops. All choirs participate in choral workshops and activities at Idaho State University.

AFTERNOON—Outdoor Concert, Rehearsals, and Free Time. Lunch will be served on the Idaho State University Quad during an outdoor concert where some of the choirs will perform. Non-performing choirs join the audience. During the afternoon, choirs will have free time and a rehearsal period for their evening concerts at their assigned venues.

EVENING—Community Concerts. Following a provided dinner, all choirs will perform at a designated venue, which may include the Jensen Grand Concert Hall, Goranson Hall, or First Presbyterian Church.

Friday

MORNING—Choral Workshops. All choirs participate in choral workshops and activities at Idaho State University.

AFTERNOON—Outdoor Concert, Rehearsals, and Free Time. Lunch will be served on the Idaho State University Quad during an outdoor concert where some of the choirs will perform. Non-performing choirs join the audience. During the afternoon, choirs will have free time and a rehearsal period for their evening concerts at their assigned venues.

EVENING—Community Concerts. Following a provided dinner, all choirs will perform at a designated venue, which may include the Jensen Grand Concert Hall, Goranson Hall, or First Presbyterian Church.

NIGHT—Splash Dance Activity. All festival participants and their host families are invited to join us for a private Splash Dance party at the Ross Park Aquatic Complex. There is a swimming pool, lazy river, activity pool, zero-depth pool with playground, and water slide. You can sit in the turf areas or dance to the live music!

Saturday

MORNING/AFTERNOON—Rehearsals and Free Time. Each choir is scheduled 30 minutes of rehearsal time in the Jensen Grand Concert Hall for the Gala Concert that evening. The rest of the day is spent with host families.

EVENING—Gala Concert. Each choir will perform for ten minutes at the Gala Concert held in the Jensen Grand Concert Hall.

Sunday

MORNING—Worship Services. Some choirs will sing a sacred selection during worship services at local church congregations. Other choirs will spend the morning with their host families.

AFTERNOON—Closing Social. All participants and host families will get together for a picnic and closing activities held at Lower Ross Park.

Monday

Departure from Pocatello. Choirs leave Pocatello according to their itineraries.
